Philadelphia Museum of Art Researchers Visit Department

Drs. Kate Duffy and Aleks Popowich, scientists in the Conservation Division at Philadelphia Museum of Art, joined Dr. Charles Ross and Prof. Dave Chenoweth to tour the Penn Chemistry Department Core Facilities (MS, NMR, X-Ray) to discuss core use, expert analyses, and collaborative projects. We hope to have them back to discuss their work and how analytical sciences are used in museums.

Karen Goldberg Elected ACS Fellow

Penn Chemistry Represented in ACS Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame

Incoming Professor of Practice Donna Huryn is one of three scholars that has been inducted into the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame. Joining her this year is Penn Chemistry alum Joel Barrish, currently a Venture Partner at RA Ventures focusing on new company creation in Biotech.

Penn Chemistry Faculty Promoted

Three Penn Chemistry personnel have been promoted, effective July 1. Zahra Fakhraai has been promoted to Professor of Chemistry. Neil Tomson has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with Tenure. And Anthony Cirri has been promoted to Senior Lecturer.

Tom Mallouk is new Department Chair

Thomas E. Mallouk, Vagelos Professor of Energy Research, assumed the role of Department Chair effective July 1, 2023. Tom succeeds David Christianson, the Roy and Diana Vagelos Professor in Chemistry and Chemical Biology, who has served as Chair for the past 5 years.

Donna Huryn to Join Penn Chemistry

Dr. Donna Huryn, a graduate of the Penn Chemistry doctoral program, will be returning to Penn this summer as a full-time Professor of Practice.

John G. Miller Award Announced
