John Wood Receives Penn Chemistry Distinguished Alumni Award

John L. Wood (GR'91), Robert A. Welch Distinguished Professor, Chemistry Department Chair, and Co-Director of Synthesis & Drug-Lead Discovery Lab at Baylor University, received the 2023 Penn Chemistry Distinguished Alumni Award. Prof. Wood was honored with a symposium featuring talks by Brian Stoltz (CalTech), David Spiegel (Yale), and Alison Narayan (Michigan).

Philadelphia Museum of Art Researchers Visit Department

Drs. Kate Duffy and Aleks Popowich, scientists in the Conservation Division at Philadelphia Museum of Art, joined Dr. Charles Ross and Prof. Dave Chenoweth to tour the Penn Chemistry Department Core Facilities (MS, NMR, X-Ray) to discuss core use, expert analyses, and collaborative projects.

Incoming Professor of Practice Donna Huryn is one of three scholars that has been inducted into the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame. Joining her this year is Penn Chemistry alum Joel Barrish, currently a Venture Partner at RA Ventures focusing on new company creation in Biotech.
