Committee on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Mission Statement

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee has the goal of promoting an anti-racist/anti-discriminatory culture within the Chemistry Department. We believe that a diverse, equitable and inclusive departmental community strengthens our teaching, learning and research. The DEI committee provides leadership in addressing issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion in the department and in developing and implementing action plans which help us progress toward our goals. We actively collaborate with student-run organizations, including ADSE and Women+ in Chemistry.

Responsibilities

The Penn Chemistry DEI Committee works to improve conditions for all members of the Chemistry Department, and to make the Department a most welcoming place for all students and visitors who spend time in the Department. The DEI Committee has an action plan and meets the second Tuesday of every month at 1pm to advance this mission.
