Tianquan "Tim" Lian, currently the William Henry Emerson Professor of Chemistry at Emory University, will be returning to his alma mater. Tim will join the Department of Chemistry at Penn, in the brand new Vagelos Laboratory for Energy & Science Technology, on August 1, 2025. Tim received his Ph.D. at Penn under the direction of Prof. Robin Hochstrasser in 1993 before a postdoctoral position with Charles B. Harris at Berkeley and then began his independent research career at Emory in 1996. Tim is an internationally recognized expert in ultrafast spectroscopy and plasmonics, and is the Editor in Chief of The Journal of Chemical Physics.
